Our Intercultural Summer Camp:

When?  Where?
Our Intercultural Summer Camp was held between the 17th and the 22nd August 1997. The camp took place at Givat Haviva an educational center in the country near Caesarea. Givat Haviva has a tradition of classes for Jewish-Arab integration.

Why? (see here for details about the four different workshops)
65 participants came to the Summer Camp, of which 22 Palestinians 18 Germans and 23 Israelis. The primary objective of the camp was to bring together the Arabs and the Jews, to create harmony, brotherhood and allow the participants to become familiar with the Israeli, Palestinian and German cultures.
What? The seminar was based on the participants setting their goals and trying to achieve them towards the end of the week. In order to achieve friendship - lots of efforts where made by the organizers as well as by the participants to plan an interesting and enjoying program for the camp.

Results

At the beginning it seemed to be impossible that Israelis, Palestinians and Germans - Jews, Moslem and Christians can meet and communicate like this, as if we were all the same, and what we came to understand in the camp is that all of us are really the same. after realizing this, we learned that there should be no differences between the Israeli and the Palestinian people regarding the peace process. We are looking forward to the next camp in which we could complete the important task we began in this one.
